WILD CAMPING

geodesic5.jpg

At Redwood Retreat we offer peaceful camping in beautiful surroundings.  By limiting our site to just three individual tent pitches we can guarantee a quiet & relaxing break.

Why not bring your tent & enjoy a break away from the worries of the world!

Our basic wild camping site for couples only is based in the pasture below the domes, there are three areas levelled out for tents.

In the "Chill-out Dome" is a single gas ring that can be used for simple cooking with fresh water available from a tap by the gate.

There is a fire pit with some simple seating so you are welcome to light a fire (logs available) and enjoy the peace & quiet. There is also a hitching rail so your bicycles can be safely tethered for unloading.

You can see a surprising range of bird life and a special treat is to have a Red Kite hovering just a few feet above your head.  Throughout the year we are visited by Nuthatches, Woodpeckers, Robins, Redstarts, Goldfinches & thrushes to name but a few.  In the spring & summer Swallows  & House Martins make their homes around the house and buildings.

Across the valley, our nearest neighbour will have lambs in the fields in spring and cows with their calves bellow across the way.

Occasionally a fox can be seen as it sneaks across the landscape, which is why our hens are permanently penned in.

A hare is another frequent visitor.

The path from the farmhouse up to the campsite passes through our productive domestic garden and you are welcome to stop and rest a while.  Depending on the season there may be surplus beans, fruit or salad greens that need eating!

From the path you will see the PV panels which generate the electricity supply for the whole site in summer.  The wind turbine which compliments this in winter is down by the car park, I expect you saw this when you arrived.

Adjacent to the farmhouse you will find a shower, toilet and sink with hot & cold water for washing up.
